After posting my poll concerning Scotty vs. Cannon, I ran out & bought a Scotty electric with the rail mount pictured & swivel base with the that pivot mount pictured.

My problem is.... if I raise the downrigger in the upright position & lock it at the pivot point......what can I rig up to keep it from completely going backwards into the boat if it's mounted on the rail???
