I haven't used rags but a few times,and didn't have any sucess when I did. But, when I started pinning my corkies down with a tooth pick I improved my hook up rate. I firmly believe if your corkie/attractant is where it should be(by hook) at all times you have a better chance of hookin up with these weary critters. Just my.02
