Nearly every cougar attack to my knowledge has been on a child/small adult or someone "running" and acting like a prey animal. The California mtn biker probably fit this role well. I'm not an expert, but I have had a few encounters and know of others where the animal backed off pronto when the human merely stopped and faced it...

...not that I'm against thinning the cougar population a bit...

...But I'm not sure I like hearing about so many supposedly responsible (I'm sure You all are) individuals running around armed.


for the record I'm carrying my '06 for long shots and 870 pump with the extended tube for anything up close!
