Depends on your budget. If it is up to $300 total, I would spend 2/3 on reel and 1/3 on rod. If $400 then go 50/50 and if over that then you can start spending more on the rod.

Daiwa reels rarely fail you. Take a look at Daiwa Millionaire CVZ casting reel for $200 or Daiwa Team X (about $200) but this one is not a high capacity.
or Abu Garcia Ambassadeur 5600 (Low cap) or 6500 series for $50-$70. You get your money worth with any of those reels.
I use max 20lbs main for king/chum or even 15lbs main and like to use lighter low capacity reels.

If you are banking in fast(er) water for chums or kings take a look at Loomis HSR1025C. It is a mag heavy rod but it is light and VERY sensitive for a 15-30lb rod! Lami G1314 or 1315? (Kenai special) is a lighter rod (12-25lb) but I like it. Those rods used to be about $200 and less for Lami.
