Depending on where you want to anchor, you can anchor with just about anything. The biggest problem with a danforth in current is that they aren't symmetrical. That is you can't guarantee that the anchor won't just skip backwards down the river.

You don't have to have a roller system to anchor. That just makes it easier to carry/drop the anchor. You should be able to buy a no frills Rocker anchor for 40-60 which isn't much compared to the gasoline to go to the Columbia! BTW, you can reuse the line and chain from your danforth.
