What a fish! I'm afraid though that all the angler and the guide will have at the end of the day is the satisfaction that they landed a fish that was probably bigger than the official record - which is quite a thing in itself, but not an official record. I can't imagine that measurements and calculations will suffice for an actual record. It would be nice, however, to have the authorities establish some sort of category for caught, measured and released fish. With appropriate controls, it would at least make for interesting speculation and talk over a beer or 10.
