This morning - about 5:45 I arrived at the Kalama for some springer fishing. First cast, a beautiful and somewhat small (about 10lbs.) springer jumped all over my eggs/sand shrimp combo and proceeded to put up a great fight. After about 10 minutes - got the fish in and even though I could taste that fish, I noticed that pesky adipose looking full and big. Back into the river and that was my last bite of the day.

Oh well, to paraphrase a great British playwright - "Tis better to have caught and released than to have never caught at all." Fun morning - and a couple of hours later one of my driftmates did find a hatchery springer of about 12 lbs.

I do love those springers!!! \:D
