Used to fish it years ago when I lived on the other side and never did get a single red-tailed perch like we get in the surf on this side, but plenty of the pile perch. I never did check tides, but fished back towards the breakwater during hours of darkness and caught more than I could have ever eaten.

Caught a few nice cabezon as well and was spooled a couple of times by whoknowzwhat.

Maybe someone else has some more info on whether you get the nicer perch there or not?
