As a Husky alum and long time fan, this has been the most brutal season ever. I've taken to self-medicating, ala Dan S's style, and avoiding listening to or watching any of the games.

It's hardly an upside, but nonetheless interesting to take some notes. I always felt it was a mistake to fire Lambright. He inherited a team under sanctions and still put up 7-4 and 7-5 seasons, I think. Then as the team rebuilt, he gets axed so miracle worker Neuheisel can grab a rose bowl with the team he inherited, rather than built. And now Gilby . . . Well Gilby's strength seems to be as an assistant coach. Isn't it interesting that some really good assistant coaches just never rise to the level of being really good head coaches? And some do. So how do you pick the right one if you're taking the long view of building a perpetual powerhouse?

Yuck! I hate football. Maybe I'll return to it in a couple years.

Whimpering whelp of a husky,
