I just watched 'Alone in the Wilderness' on the PMS pledge drive.

VERY COOL!

I missed the first 20 minutes of the broadcast, maybe they addressed med/dental care--but two things stood out:

If he stayed in the wilderness with only periodic visits from that bush pilot--how did he manage to keep all his teeth into his 90's while injesting so much sugar if he never saw a dentist for cleanings, fillings etc. in 30 + years ?

Another thing I noticed is that his aluminum canoe had a flat transon--Coleman came out with a similar canoe called a 'scanoe' in the 80's or 90's--this was filmed in the
early to mid 60's---blooper or were those around back then?

At any rate--it was a great film. He died in his sleep 5 days after watching the finished composed footaqe of the cabin he built and a visual record of a simple yet meaningful life. I bet that cabin will still be standing long after we're all gone--Certainly the idea of ingenuity, self-reliance and craftmanship will.
