I guess I don't understand this statement? If conditions are low and clear then that usually means COLD. In these condition's I'll use at least a spin-n-glow to "wake" them up but usually a silver spoon, spinner or plug. If you need to really get something gaudy in their face to get a bite I don't see where line will spook them?

Even in summer lows where the water temp is warm I still catch 98% of my fish on a spinner so again I don't see where the line is going to spook a fish.

I just don't believe steelhead to be leader shy. If your describing a fresh water salmon situation never mind as I'm off hunting and wouldn't know any different.

p.s. I love the stuff as it leaves more fish in the river for me
