Went shrimping today and between pulling pots, i was able to cast a line for some cutties. Only got to try two spots but there were a few fish around. started at slack low and raised a lot of fish to my popper, only getting one hooked solidly. Probably raised around 20 fish over the hour or so that i actually fished. got 5 or so hooked up. Pretty good way to spend some time on the boat.
If you have never tried fishing a popper before you should give it a shot. It is a great searching pattern and although you might not hook as many, you will locate far more fish and the visual of fish on the top is great
