My friend and I came back down from the Wind river an dstopped there to fish for shad (we had caught a chrome hen on the Wind). I didn't have the right gear to fish for shad ,but found a real small lime green spin-n-glo with white wings and casted out and caught 3 or 4 shad , then about an hour later I casted out and hooked a big fish , didn't know until I had seen color out 6 yards from shore and was chrome! I played it awhile and handed the rod to my friend so he could get in on the action, around 10 to 15 minutes we had it to the rocks and a russian fellow next to us had a net . We got it and realized it was a Big summer Chinook and the season was closed so we hurried to get it in the water to revive it all the time we had an Indian lady standing next to us badgering us that we couldn't keep it ( we Knew the regs.) The fish came too and swam away , I told the lady that we know what the laws of the land are and told her that her brother up the river would probably catch that fish in his net and dry out in the back of his truck at the local watering hole!
