I shot a bear over bait some years ago. I was in a tree stand. .270 from about 20 yards. It died right on top of that pile of stale Hostess donuts and expired loaves of bread with Aunt Jamima Pancake syrup poured on it. 1 shot. does not really matter what you shoot it with at that range.
