It doesn't make for technically perfect photos, but I personally like the hard intense light of mid summer. The picture of the brookie, it looks like late June, early July type of light, maybe noon or one in the afternoon. One of those days where you'd start off dressed in the sweater and raincoat, but by 9am the sun is already swinging high in its elipse; by that time the brush along the riverbank is wearing most of your clothes.

When I am very old, I hope to die on a day like that. Asleep under an alder with my rod by my side. The angler's version of dying with your boots on.
