Nice reggae link, Chuck E. And nice John Butler link, RR. We just saw him play in Bellingham a couple of months ago... rocked it.

I suppose it all depends on what you like and what you want. For good old fashioned rock, I still love The Black Crowes. The album "Amorica" is where you should start (and ALWAYS go see them live if possible). For dirtier, louder, more blues-based rock, check out The Black Keys. Just a guitarist/singer and a drummer. Also a great live show. You might recognize one of their songs from a Nissan commercial. The Tragically Hip are good if you want to feel Canadian.

The MIA's album "Kala" from last year is still incredible if you can handle a more electronic sound. There is a reason Rolling Stone labeled it best album of the year.

Instrumental reggae: Jackie Mittoo on the organ or Scientist making real dub music.

Fela Kuti and Konono Number 1 both make energetic, rhythm-based music.

The Roots are great musicans that show that rap music can be skillfully done with instruments, lyrics, and flow. Mos Def, Common, and even Kanye West all do good things for rap music. Zion I out of the Bay Area are good too. And for something newer, check out Blu and Exile.

Thievery Corporation, DJ Shadow, and Kid Koala all do interesting things.

Then you've got all the undeniable stuff... Led Zeppelin, Bob, Stevie Wonder, SRV, The Beatles, etc.

I've had a Rhapsody subscription forever and really like it. My only problem is that I'm constantly listening to new things and often forget about things I've previously found, even if they are really good.

Looking forward to seeing what other people throw out there.
