Just got back from a great trip to Billie Shaw lake on the Idaho/Nevada border. This is a trophy managed rainbow lake on the Shoshone Paiute reservation, literally in the middle of nowhere ie 100 miles south or north to the nearest town. Weather went from 50 degrees and 30+ wind on Wed to 85 and NO wind on Friday and Sat.
We averaged about 15 landed per person per day, green wooleys/chironomid droppers and our secret "stick" fly pattern did the deal. Lots of 18-22 inch bows in the 3-5lb class...

Fish were in the 8-12 ft range and just starting to work the shallows, we picked up a few nice bows in 2ft of water and floating lines with size 16 pheasant tails, that is the shiat when a 20+ inch bow hits that small of a fly in shallow water. Had two hooks bent doing that...anyway good to be back on my home waters with my dad. I still cant outfish him but I hung in there and after pounding for days to get a steelie or two to bite this spring it was way nice to get a hard smack on the fly every 15 min all day long...cheers
