I'd say it's a lot worse on the Palin front, by a factor of 10, at least.

She's a card carrying member of the Apocalyptic Lunatic Fringe of the Christian Coaltion...the ones that think we ought to utterly use the world into dust, since we'll all be experiencing Rapture here pretty darn quick...no use in letting it go to waste, I mean, we can't take it with us, right?

It's one thing to believe in God...fine. It's another thing to be part of an organized religion, whose first goal is try and remove as much spirituality as possible and turn it into a power and money game, right from the get go.

It's even worse when you're an arrogant enough prick (or prickette) to think that your radical views are actually those of God, and that you're on some sort of heavenly mission, not only sanctioned by God, but actually commanded by him to do it.

That's George Bush, and that's why little things like facts and logic play very little roles in decisionmaking...it gives you the luxury of acting from the gut, rather than having to think, or consider consequences, or any other difficult things like that.

It's also Sarah Palin.

That's why I was saying within hours of her being picked by McSame that rather than catering to the center to try and steal Hillary voters with someone like Hutchison, he instead when full sail the other way and picked a lunatic, in order to kowtow to the lunatic fringe...the Christian right.
