SEATTLE – A federal judge in Seattle has approved the expansion of the White Pass Ski Resort into an area called Hogback Basin
The resort plans to build ski lifts and a day lodge on the 800-acre site.
The Sierra Club and environmentalists in the Hogback Preservation Association opposed the expansion for fear it would degrade the terrain. The resort on U.S. Highway 12 is about 50 miles west of Yakima and draws about 100,000 skiers a year.
