i'd definately run a siwash. if you put an octopus on a swivel, the direction of pull is off-axis with the point, due to the eye of the hook being offset. a siwash (rvrfshr sickles are the BOMB) will pull directly in line with the point. octopuses are designed to be tied in line (i.e. egg loop) so that you're pulling along the shaft, which is in line with the point.
