My letter to our New President....

-----------------------------

Dear President Elect Barack Obama,

Congratulation of your personal and historic victory of becoming Our next President!

I would like to let you know that I did not vote for you, but I was glad to hear you state that you are my President, “And to those Americans whose support I have yet to earn - I may not have won your vote, but I hear your voices, I need your help, and I will be your President too.” I have always believed that even when the victor was not the candidate that I voted for he was still my President, and therefore represented me, and because of this I will stand behind you and beside you.

As my President I hope and pray that you will look to the Constitution and the founders as an inspiration to lead this nation, not just as individual men or idea but look at what they all were trying to build for the generations to come, that have lead to this great day.

I will tell you that I was raised in a middle class family and that I am a middle class American, currently, I am “Main Street”. I have worked since the age of 15 to achieve the life that I have today and hope that the United States of tomorrow will not set me back or further reduce my lifestyle or wage. I believe that paying between 28 and 33 percent of my wage, which I work hard for, in taxes, is a fare share. So, I am glad that you stated you would not increase the taxes on the middle class, and I hope that you will not slide the scale downward to increase the taxes on the middle class, I believe that you are a man of you word.

I have always given every man and woman, which comes into my life, a “glass full” of respect and support. It is then their own actions, word or acts, which determine if they lose any of that respect or support. So again, I hope that you will keep your word and live the promises that you stated while running, and last night, for the highest office in our land. “…But I will always be honest with you about the challenges we face. I will listen to you, especially when we disagree…”

You have the opportunity to BE the “change” that you professed during your campaign; you can be the President that keeps his word and promises. I ask you to please be the President of the People, not just the special interests or special projects of individual.

I now look forward, with hope, to working with and beside, you to build a better tomorrow for both my children and yours.

I will pray for you and your family daily and ask God to help you during the coming days, months and years.

Again CONGRATULATIONS on your victory and may God Bless You!

Sincerely,

Shawn
