I love my Convergence 10'6" 8-15#, particularly when fishing bigger water. Lots of mend, if maybe a little over-powered for brats. Picked up a Rapala 9'6" cheap, and use it for slightly smaller streams...funner for brats. I'm yet to put a nate on it, though. The Convergence is waaay heavy...maybe I'm getting jaded, but I really like a hot summer fish in a smaller stream on a 7'6" 4-10# spin rod--that cork handle really coming to life does something to a guy.

Sooo...match your rod to the fish, the size/current of the water you're fishing, and your purpose: are you playing, or harvesting?
