I went out Tuesday evening with the idea of fishing the falling tide on an Eld Inlet beach. I usually fish this beach on the incoming, so I wanted to see how it works on the outgoing.

I met a whacked-out guy who followed me around the beach and tirelessly told me a string of whoppers about fishing. He knew just enough about fishing to be able to get himself involoved in all kinds of fictional adventures.

All that hot air -- plus a nasty, whipping wind that started turning the nearshore water muddy -- got me to bail out early.

I didn't see any chum fry, but that doesn't mean they're not around. That said, chum fry time is on the way out, and marine worm time is already here. It's time to tie woolly worms in a variety of colors and sizes for the feeding frenzies. I like a red woolly bugger with a black bead head and black marabou tail. Olive, yellow, orange and black are also good colors to carry.
More in my blog....
