Absolutely no reason not to use your Rio Grand in the salt. Just remember to rinse all of your tackle (particularly your reel) with fresh water at the end of the day. I usually separate the spool and frame and drop them into a bucket of fresh water for about half-an-hour, remove them, shake off the excess water and lay them somewhere to drip and dry.
