PLACE: Just for fun, Mouth of the Toutle on the Cowlitz, Silvers.

AVERAGE CAST: Thirty yards.

CORKIES: Colorful, mostly reds and oranges

YARN: Colorful, no black

LEADER LENGTH: 6 to 10 ft

Fish hooked in the mouth per regs. I can not see nor can you that the fish bit willingly, but with the bright colors the fish can move away if it wants. I have seen fish in the Quilicene definitly move up to bite a fly, why should a properly presented corky and yarn be any different? Twitching jigs has become popular for Silvers. Do you suppose that when fishing corkies, and the lead hits bottom, it might twitch the corkie and yarn. Also that the longer leaders are needed to get the bait a little higher in the water colume and act right, as well as being above the fish so that they can see them better. You are welcome to join me there anytime and check me out. The wardens have not written me any tickets so I must be doing something right. PS I pinch the barbs and make every fish legal by punching it before resuming fishing.

Thats my opinion and I approve It.
