Happy fuckin holidays...I wish there was something to be done. It's not as bad as actually being broken into, but it's a serious cramp on a good fishing day to every once in a while get a feeling that you need to boogie up to your rig just to make sure it and its contents are still there.
Just like fishyness said, when I'm tooling around on the rivers and see guys hanging out around rigs, I usually slow down and ask them how the fishing is...but I do it mainly to see if they should be standing around those rigs or not. Most the time they are the owner of the car and are getting in or out of it...but a few times they jump into another rig and boogie without any conversation.
One of the tweaker crews up in Sky Valley knows me and my rig, since I caught them redhanded screwing with it a few years ago, had the cops come, and the cops impounded their car and arrested a few of them, eventually with two of them ending up pleading guilty to 3rd degree theft.
I thought that might put a bigger target on my rig, but...knock on wood...no incidents since then.
I hate having to feel like I have to have an eagle eye out there for everyone walking or standing along the roads, but I guess it's better than the alternative.
Fish on...
Todd
