I've had some pretty good success flyfishing off Mendano, but always down closer to the rocks as Mingo mentioned.
Nothing huge, but some small roosters, ladyfish, sierras, jacks, mexican lookdowns and one brown pelican. That bird sure made my Ross Big Game scream.
I agree with you, booking a panga for the day opens up a whole new game.
