Don't close them:

Group Pitches Idea Of 24 Hour Bars In Seattle

SEATTLE -- Though fights often occur after bars close and patrons hit Seattle streets, a group is pitching the idea of 24-hour bars.

The Seattle Nightlife and Music Association said 24-hour bars could be the answer to the violence.

"Whenever you get tons of people together, there's potential issues. If you get rid of that push out, you get rid of those problems," the association's David Meinert said.

Meinert is meeting with city officials this week to talk about studying other cities that allow bars to close when they want.

Meinert said the idea is part of a larger plan for nightclubs that would include strict noise regulations.
