Nice!

I, too did a recent warmwater outing at a normally reliable locale, and I had a great time. I didn't catch any bass (which was unusual), but I did catch a nice brown while fishing next to a dock. Cool surprise. Otherwise, I did catch a few bluegill and crappie, but it wasn't the constant action I usually associate with panfish. Through it all, I also caught a ridiculous (almost annoying) number of 10" planter trout.

I really enjoy such trips once in a while. Totally relaxed and almost guaranteed action. I usually try to take home a dozen or so bluegill, crappie, and bass (small ones). Crusted with jalapeno potato chips and fried up quickly, those little fillets are as tasty as it gets. I can't remember who first posted that concept around here, but the man deserves some credit, cause them's good eats! Sure, it is a pain in the arse to get the fillets off those little critters, but it's worth the effort.

Catching good numbers of these scrappy, beautiful fish on a light fly rod makes for a great departure from the sometimes torturous droughts between steelhead once in a while. Glad to see that someone else appreciates the same.
