We have the largest wind farm down here at Altamont Pass. It puts out an average of 125 MW per day. One of the problems they have is it kills anywhere from 7,300-9,600 birds per year. Among those birds are an estimated 94 Golden Eagles, 433 Red-Tail Hawks, 477 Kestrels and 718 Burrowing Owls. Since it's against federal law to kill those eagles, the operation has to be shut down for several months out of the year.
