All true, folks, all true.

RR: I agree that the bloodlust that overtakes people when salmon are around is shameful. Honestly, I'm getting close (I'm not quite there yet, but I'm close) to hanging it up on chasing salmon. Watching more and more people abuse the fish, the fisheries, and each other is starting to wear on me.

Cohobankie: Indeed, in the wrong hands, a fly line with a sink tip is a deadly snagging system. Sadly, I am seeing more and more people picking up fly rods for that purpose every year. Ever see the Kalama when it goes fly only around the Beginner's Hole? Case in point. I agree that the Quilcene has long been a harvest fishery. It's never been very glamorous in that respect, but even just a few years ago, there was a quality opportunity to pick up silvers and chums, on feathers or hardware, for a guy willing to put in some time.
