RVGY: I think your analysis has merit. Many presidents have gotten spanked and still gone on to win reelection. But the job of building a consensus of moderates if going to be tougher this time. Many of the Blue Dog democrats lost and the Tea Party picked up a good number of seats. The result is fewer in the center of both parties. That is not a good thing for someone trying to find the moderate center.
