Fished there yesterday (MON). We caught a limit (4 fish) but it took us a while. If I had known up front to fish 65 to 80 feet like the report said, it may not have taken 7 hours.
I fished the far end of the lake and had the most success fairly close to shore in the area south of the point. To describe that better, as you approach the end of the lake, there is a point straight at the end and two bays. I fished the bay on the left where I marked some schools.
The fish are not dark? As compared to what? Its not that they are really poor shape, but don't expect them to look like Lake Washington fish. They definately have color to them, some more than others. Also they are significantly smaller on average than Washington fish (unless I was just really lucky last year) running 3 to 5 lbs.
I used the State Park launch which is a decent launch. My only disapointment is their parking style as they have no trailer parking. You have to disconect the trailer and park next to it. But there was plenty of parking. You have to be carefull to watch for rocks as you leave the launch area. I saw someone who was not watching run his boat right up on one.
Depending on which way you get there, be prepared for road work. I took I-90 to 97 to 2. They have work on 97 and 2. Also, lightning started a small fire North/West outside Leavenworth, something to be aware of.
