Don't blame the media, blame your big boss for not having the sack to tell the media to phuque off. He could have easily made the argument that you were doing the fiscally responsible thing by eating at the nearest open establishment, rather than wasting time and resources by driving all over the county looking for a media-deemed PC diner.

Your big boss sounds like the type of management that needs to be thinned from the herd.
