Sitting out in a canoe in January is crazy! But as I was stuck on the island all weekend I snuck out hoping for some chironomid action at the local year-round lake...Saturday despite many little silvers rising I hooked up only once, and promptly lost it...plenty of midges coming off for a bit there...as the wind blew me around in circles crazily and made a nice flat line impossible...Sunday the temps cooled and the wind was a little less gusty but only had one bite and missed it. Saw three chironomids. Never did see a fish that looked bigger than about 8"...I hope we get another shot of warm weather in a couple of weeks, because I really want to hook a fish on a dry fly in January!

By the way--why does the washingtonlakes.com link on the top of the washington lakes forum take me back to piscatorial pursuits?
