Toyotas, refrigerators, front porches, yen, tennis shoes like the ones that washed up on Canadian beaches in recent years, ANYTHING that floats. In the past I used to find light bulbs with Japanese writing on them; now one might find the light bulb, the lighting fixture, and the house to which it was attached. To be sure, there will be plenty of scavengers and salvagers picking up these artifacts of the Japanese tragedy. Hopefully, they will reflect on the human toll behind every beachcombing discovery they make.
