FP,
I think what you are saying is at least partly true. I remember a younger freind who was going to Curtis High School. He had a real poor home life, was, and is, very ADD. One day he came to me and relayed how he had been having trouble in school. Seems he had a habit of being tardy. The principal pulled him into his office and started explaining to him that he would never be a sucess unless he followed all the rules and fit in with everyone else. Lack of compliance was deemed to failure. One must follow the rules to a tee, go to college, and conform to the rules of society, or one would fail. Problem is, my freind could never do that, and never has. At the time I asked him to consider Bill Gates and how well he conforms to the norms of soceity.
The I asked him who made more, Bill Gates or the principal.

At 40 he is unmarried and can be flakey as possible; but He runs his own internet company and has always enjoyed life. He recently told me he was glad no one was ever able to drug him up and try to make him like everyone else.

I was lucky in that when I had problems in school from the same baloney, my principal actually stood up for me. After laying out the crud my teacher was doing, he sighed, then said.... "Yeah I know". He wrote me a note telling the teacher to quit, then said,"Every time you get down remember this, she is head of the local union and will be under my skin for the next 10 years. Consider yourself lucky." Always will remember the guy for his honesty and candor.
