Maybe it is much ado about nothing. If that is the case, then it was much ado about nothing when the shrill voices from the left, many of whom have commented on this thread, stated that Bush was a dictator because he was using his signing statements/writers to alter laws. It was clearly enough of an issue that Obama felt the need point out using that tactic is an "end run around congress". Now Obama is running his own sweep play because he doesn't like the budget cuts HE negotiated with Republicans.

You can't have it both ways and claim to have integrity. If you are going to vilify one side to sway public opinion, then use the same tactic, you deserve the very same treatment. All in all this is a slimy tactic used by an unprincipled man.

I do see this as a relevant issue. Obama and the Democrats negotiated and agreed to a budget, then decided after the fact that they aren't going to abide by it. We have serious issues that need to be dealt with. If Obama is going to create distrust by going back on his word after a bill is agreed to and voted on, then how willing do you think Republicans are going to be to compromise with him the next time around?
