Shot him in the front, the back, the side, wherever. It doesn't change that the burglar was in the shooter's garage where he sure as heck doesn't belong at 4:30 AM or any other time of the day without an invitation. The homeowner shot and killed a burglar, improving society by one less burglar. How can this be anything but a positive influence in society?

Burglars who aren't killed are rewarded by our justice system with its revolving door system, putting them back on the streets, often in less than 24 hours. Most burglaries are committed by repeat offenders. They repeat because even when caught, there is no disincentive to stop burglarizing. The only action I'm aware of that stops burglars from burglarizing is the infrequent action of the victim killing the burglar. Being an open-minded person, if there is any alternative action that actually stops burglars from continuing to burglarize, and being an ongoing plague on society, I'll listen. Meanwhile I'm delighted when I learn there is one less burglar in our midst.
