Dave, In my rig I spent just over $600.00 in fuel for a 9 day trip last year. Where you including the 'mileage expense' figures from that website in your calculations? I don't know WTF that expense is for.

Either way, for you guys in a smaller car staying longer than I, it shouldnt amount to 1K in expenses.
