I've got to agree with 'bear.
It sounds to me like you're shopping a price point and perhaps an 18 is not currently on the table.
Since we are heading into winter and the "buying season" you have options and right now the new boat market is very competitive. Use that fact to your advantage and shop around.

I would suggest looking beyond the two boat brands you mentioned and definitely consider a windshield.

Think about the weight savings and reduced maintenance costs of a 2-stroke outboard as well. The two engine brands you mentioned are heavy, must-break'em-in-and-change-the-oil different colored four strokes.
