Trolling small dick nites works well if you have a boat, but from shore try casting small spinners and spoons. I attach a small split shot about 4' up from the lure to give it more weight on the cast. The shoreline varies in depth and vegetation. One of the best shore spots is the south/east corner where lots of stumps are present.

And as IC Fish said, you'll see idiots not only using bait, but leaving their bait containers as litter.
