After the wind died down early in the week it was perfect hunting weather on the Palouse. Temps were in the low 30's light wind and the bucks were rutting like crazy. I first saw this buck at about 150 yards, I was going to shoot but realized he was coming right towards me and oblivious to me being there. He got within 50 yards and started getting nervous so I took my shot, he was quartering towards me, my shot hit him in the chest and came out just in front of his shoulder, the 140 grain accubond out of my 270 left a fist size exit wound, he jumped once and died. Overall a good week, not many pheasants but I have meat in the freezer!
