I prefer a 7 or 8 wt Spey. It seems like I'd lean toward the 8 for winter and 7 for summer, but my favorite is my 13' 4" CND Solstice which is about a 7 wt for summer and winter with a 450 gr Skagit with tips and a straight 7 wt short belly for floating line work. I also use my Forecast 11' 6" 6/7 wt Forecast a lot, year round, small water and large, with a 400 gr Skagit and 10' sinking poly leaders or 6 wt floater. Super cheap alternative at about $100 for the kit, but you have to roll it yourself.

I've got heavier 8, 9, 10 wt rods, but they're better for chinook fishing IMO.
