This choice in politics with the Red vs Blue is just like Coke vs Pepsi. Sure some people are Coke fanatics and other people Pepsi fanatics but in a blind taste test, most people can't tell the difference because there isn't any meaningful difference. Just like with politicians.

The cynical SW agrees with everything you just said.

That aside, should I start construction of my underground bunker post haste? Start squirelling away my rapidly depreciating Federal Reserve fiat notes for my small retirement share of Central American hookers and blow? Tell my kids [Bleeeeep!] it I'm done?

I'm anything but a quitter. In fact, pretty gawd damned stubborn. I'll keep my head down and continue to contribute in ways that I can to what I see is right. I don't expect to change the world but I'll make sure I at least played my hand.
