Thanks at least in part to recent changes in both training and response methodology for what are being called "active shooter" events.

The old school approach had been to establish a perimeter and wait the bad guys out. Obviously in active shooter situations (as opposed to hostage scenarios) people are dying and usually pretty fast. Stopping the threat as quickly as possible has become the highest priority.

Most school employees, safety officers, and LEO's that could be involved in such events are now receiving training in moving to and trying to counter the threat, potentially with casualties along the way, in order to try and minimize the overall damage these a-holes can do.

Sounds like an exceptionally brave effort on this guys part. Glad there are still a few heroes out there.
