On Sunday we had a Superfly Family milestone.....My son Zach and I were taking a day fishing on our own, just a father son day out on a beautiful river. Zach wanted to row so I said fine, he said he wanted to see if he was good enough to side drift and put me on the fish.....So after a mile or so of figuring out proper boat speed and where the boat needed to be in relationship to the water I was fishing he had it pretty well down. Then we came up on a couple of other boats and got in front of them and that is when the magic happend. He got me in a good spot and his speed was good and I made a cast towards the bank. Not long after my gear had settled into the run my float dissappeared ! Fish on baby ! He then rowed over to the gravel bar where I landed and released the fish and gave him a high 5 and said wow.....you just rowed me on your first side drifted steelhead !
Pretty cool.................and a proud moment for Dad !
