I call it the " I Want More, Better, or Different" obsession. We all have it to some degree or other. But for some, it's an unending dissatisfaction with life in general. It's nothing new, it's just more common.

Grass is greener on the other side of the fence.
Keeping up with the Jones's
Poor me, poor me, pour me another
I'm just a victim

We're taught to not feed animals, lest they become dependant.........
We're taught that survival of the fittest is a good thing......

But somehow it doesn't apply to us.
