I used a .35 Rem T/C contender for several years and got quite a few deer with it. All were one shot kills, mostly under 100 yards, but one was slightly over 200 yds. The ballistics of the .35 Rem are pretty close to the 30/30 but can use heavier bullets.

I also experimented with loading Speer shot capsules designed for .357 pistol use. Not good past about 10 yards - no choke and rifled barrel don't enhance the accuracy at all!!
