I am heading over to the Potholes for some duck hunting, but if it's slow I may want to hunt some upland birds. The problem is that I don't know of any public land in that area for pheasants. I don't want to know your zipperlip spots, but some direction would be much appreciated. You can email me to keep the info off the board.

Thanks and good shooting.
Since you are headed over to the potholes anyway, stop in at Mar Dons and pick yourself up a Royal Booster Hunting Program membership ($200 for the season, $75 per day, half price for youth). It will give you access to 25,000 acres+ of private hunting land. cool

As I have seen far too many men wearing camo dawning the cheap-orange walmart special vest(or no orange at all- lovely) because duck numbers are so off this year, I can't share public land with ya! Too much competition as it is. Well, I'll point you in the direction of land I DON'T hunt, which isn't a judgement on it's viablity, I just don't hunt it. The Winchester Wasteway can have good numbers of pheasant (I've seen 20+ in the off season) and I believe the WDFW dumps birds out there. Also, check out the massive public land near the Moses Lake airport.

Sky pig numbers have been decent if you want to go that direction.

As for northerns... I wouldn't hold you breath. It's still mild over here and a week ago in the pot holes area, I was not seeing an increase in duck numbers. In Late November I saw a surge in numbers in the area- went from seeing 100 a day to 2000 a day, but they've gone an disappeared again. At one point, I saw a flock of northerns easily 800 strong, they looked like starlings they were so thick. eek

Good luck! beer
